Dr Denise Wolrab

ADVISOR

Postdoc in the lipidomic group at the University of Vienna (Department of Analytical chemistry)

  • Expertise: LC-(MS) and SFC(-MS) method development, method validation, BIG-data handling, the establishment of clinical cancer screening methods, chiral and achiral stationary phase development and evaluation of those.
  • Experience: 11+ Years

Personal Experience

Denise is an early-carrier analytical chemist with a strong background in chromatographic method development for biological and pharmaceutical samples, including the design, synthesis and evaluation of new stationary phases. During her research stay in the Czech Republic, she developed new achiral ion-exchange materials together with Michal, which resulted in a granted patent.

During her post-doc stay, Denise developed a mass spectrometry-based lipidomic profiling method for the screening of breast, kidney, prostate and pancreatic cancer. She validated the method, introduced a quality control system and investigated a semi-automated data processing tool and the statistical analysis for identifying and quantifying lipids in human blood. The method resulted in two patent applications and the clinical translation is currently aimed at a specifically founded spin-off.

She focuses on the interconnection of fundamental separation science research, especially focusing on supercritical fluid chromatography and the application of analytical strategies and methods for clinical questions.
